The Innovation INOFEED Pilots

AOSDU: Autonomous On-Site Drying Unit

The core of the project’s work is related to the construction of the AOSDU modules. Each represents an enhanced, modular, and energy-efficient system designed for the decentralized valorisation of agri-food bio-waste. The INOFEED version integrates optimized solar-assisted drying technology, improved airflow management, advanced process monitoring, and automated control systems to ensure consistent moisture reduction, product stability, and operational reliability. By enabling on-site processing directly at the waste generation source, the INOFEED AOSDU minimizes transportation needs, reduces environmental impacts, and delivers a standardized, safe intermediate product suitable for further feed production, thereby strengthening the circular economy model promoted by the project.
All modules are engineered to be housed within a standard 20-ft container (approximately 6 m x 2.5 m x 2.6 m), enabling cost-efficient manufacturing, simplified logistics, and straightforward transportation. This standardized containerized design enhances modularity, facilitates rapid deployment at different sites, and minimizes installation and relocation costs.
Within the project’s framework, at least 5 fully integrated AOSDUs will be constructed and installed at the premises of collaborating entities, such as supermarkets, auction houses, olive mills, poultry slaughterhouses, and catering/hospitality facilities.
