ABOUT LIFE INOFEED

Innovative Onsite Treatment of Food Related Wastes for Viable Production of Animal Feed

The main objective of LIFE-INOFEED is to develop and demonstrate an innovative, decentralized system for the sustainable valorisation of agri-food bio-waste into safe and marketable feed materials, within a circular economy framework.

By deploying autonomous on-site drying units powered by renewable energy, the project aims to reduce waste disposal, minimize transport-related emissions, recover valuable nutrients, and decrease dependence on conventional feed resources.

Ultimately, we seek to prove the technical feasibility, environmental benefits, and economic viability of a scalable solution that can be replicated across Europe.

Every year, large volumes of bio-waste with significant nutritional value are underutilized or disposed of through low-value practices, while the livestock sector remains heavily dependent on imported feed materials with high environmental footprints.

THE OBJECTIVES OF LIFE-INOFEED

Decentralised Production of Feed Ingredients

Deployment of AOSDU units

Development and operation of decentralised production of feed ingredients from bio-waste.

Biowaste Valorisation

Valorisation of approximately 4,000 tonnes of bio-waste into around 1,600 tonnes of marketable feed materials.

Greenhouse Gas Mitigation

Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and of the environmental impacts associated with waste disposal and feed production.

Regulatory Compliance

Demonstration of the technical feasibility, economic viability and regulatory compliance of the system.

Scaling and Replication

Creation of a scalable and replicable circular economy model that can be transferred to European regions.
